Putting together our own collection

Would anyone be interested in putting together a collection of poetry and short stories? I thought we could do something on the theme of being a mother (seems obvious) and then self-publish.
I have heard good things about self-publishing on Lulu.com, which seems low cost and if you meet certain layout standards the book can get an ISBN number which means it can be sold through Amazon and other bookshops. Also publishing on the net can be a good place to get publishers' attention (sometimes..) Even if we just had copies for friends, family and our CV's it would still be good fun!
I've had experience in magazine publishing but if there's anyone out there who would like to get involved, either as writer or editor then let me know.

I could donate a very short story I wrote a few years ago, but it is more of a comedy horror thing...give me an email and I will send it through, a publisher I sent it to wrote me a letter back saying to lengthen it but I just cant bring myself to....

it is a very interesting idea. I would love to try and write something. My sister is a successful novelist and she may have some helpful ideas.
