Anyone know why he's dropped the "Islam", and now trades just as "Yusuf"? A commercial/political decision? Quite like his new song.

I know he got chucked off/prevented from boarding a flight to the US earlier this year. Wonder if it's got anything to do with that and the US hysteria over moooo-slims (not calling Muslim people, it's just that a LOT of americans call them "moooo-slims")

Don't think he has dropped it.

His 'entourage', for want of a better name, have always referred to him simply as Yusuf when talking to the press.

Well, they would, surely; I mean, I expect David Bowie's entourage refer to him as David. But this is the first time i've seen his work advertised just under the name "Yusuf". I suspect some kind of pragmatic dodging of anti-Islamic feeling may have come into play.

Boowila, they're not referring to cattle, it's justt he way some americans overpronounce it. Like they do with Eye-raq, George Bush goes on about "teer-ists".
The guy that did "Supersize me" did a series where one of his friends lived with a Muslim family for 30 days, and loads of the people he was speaking to pronounced it "Mooo-slim"

Which new song are you referring to then? The latest I have heard is under his full name.

Ikloo - the ones that say "mooooslims" also call the Arabs "Ay rabs"

I heard the most excellent joke the other day. It goes: "Bush is just like the people who live in Cornwall. He can't stand all those "tourists" [read terrorist] !!

Loads of retailers have it listed as Yusuf Islam.

Maybe he is just taking a more casual approach. On his website it varies between using just Yusuf and his full name and I am sure he would have made a public announcement if he was dropping it for political reasons.
