In Brighton, I've seen Steven Berkoff in the street in Kemp Town....he trod in some dog shit and was trying to wipe off his shoe on the kerb ...I did laugh and he did glare at me, I know I shouldn't have but he did write a play called Brighton Beach Scumbags..

I also saw Jeremy Hardy, the comedian, in a supermarket check out queue in what used to be Presto, then Safeway (what is it now?) at the bottom end of St James Street. I was with dd1 at the time and she pointed him out (loudly) and he looked really nervous...

I've also seen Erasure (both of them) walking along the seafront...they were like a gay version of little and large...that Andy wotsit is huge and the other one's tiny...dd1 "ooh look its Erasure!"

We (dd and I) had to walk past Chris Eubank on a tiny little pavement on the nudist beach below Kemp Town Enclosures once...he was in the full jodhpurs and crash helmet, carrying a riding whip outfit and flanked by a couple of minders...there was no room for us on the pavement, we had to walk on the pebbles, doubled up with laughter...

Came round the corner of the Brighton Centre once during the Labour Party Conf, and came face to face with Roy Hatterrsley, well would have been face to face except he's a midget...

Got chatted up in a well-known Brighton nightclub by someone who used to be in Heaven 17 (Glenn Gregory)...he was boring...

A friend of mine got chatted up in a different nightclub by Arthur Smith.....puke.....

Pete McCarthy used to live round the corner from me and share the gardens of Kemp Town Enclosures....

A few years ago when Take That were starting out I won the toss to escort Robbie Williams around my school for the day, then 4 years ago at a concert in Cardiff Robbie was doing a sound check (this was 3.30pm concert started at 7pm - qued from 11am) and loads of girls rushed for his autograph and he recognised me and sang me angels in souncheck how cool.

Parsleypants · 21/10/2005 20:16

Tegan - that is officially cool - definitely!

CarolinaFullMoon · 21/10/2005 20:17

respect to you Parsleypants!

I saw Kylie walking down the King's Road years ago. Also Martine McCutcheon and Tara P-T (separately) around there. And Richard Briers on the tube. Twice!

never see anyone famous now we're not living in London

Marina · 21/10/2005 20:18

Snort Cam - you get all the alpha celebs in the throbbing metropolis of Brighton don't you
And there is poetic justice in S Berkoff treading in dogshit, somehow. (I can envisage the dogshit complaining personally, godawful man and his buttocknumbingly bad production of Salooooooome )

Hanif Kureishi much more like it Gem. Buddha of Suburbia especially was a cracking series. Still miss the wonderful Susan Fleetwood.

I served Kate Bush at the height of her fame in 1980 in Eltham Marks & Sparks. More innocent times really - I don't fancy any celeb's chances of popping out for milk and bread these days without it going in Hello! - or being posted about on the internet

tegan · 21/10/2005 20:25

Parsleypants - cheers I know. I saw the programme on Wednesday night about his new album and it seems really weird to have spent time with that person.

Cam · 22/10/2005 15:42

I remember the Buddha of Suburbia for the fabulous Steven Mackintosh....wish I could spy him on the street...

noddyholder · 22/10/2005 15:46
