I'm taking dd (8) to see the Palace of Versailles in December, has anyone been with children?

Yep - spent a day there in June. If you can, go at weekend when fountains are going and classical music is playing. Gardens far more successful than palace - ran through them as youngest dd(2.5) was scared and screamed all the way round. Agree with MaloryTowers - Marie Antoinettes farm a must see (go by the 'train' and walk back). you can hire bikes and rowing boats down by the canal also. Picnic area in gardens at the large Neptune fountain on right hand side as you stand facing away from palace. Ds is 9 and really enjoyed everything. We didn't see everything in the day.

Brilliant day for the whole family. HTH. Lucky you!

Thanks for the info Malory Towers and Rebi, somehow I don't think that the gardens are going to be as glorious in December as they would have been in June but according to the Versailles website, its half-price for a one-day pass in low season

We're combining some high culture with a low culture trip to DLP
