Hi guys so my ex partner has been lying to me so I would give him money this has been going on for about 18months as we don’t live together he was getting really stressed not being able to keep up with food shopping etc so like a loving partner I helped him out all the time anyway to cut a long story short I’ve just found out he was seeing another woman all along taking my money and spending it on her saving up to move in with her which has just happened apparently. He owes me £3000 and I want it back but the problem is I have no address for him I want him arrested for abuse can the police actually track him down or is it a lost cause. I’m emotionally and financially drained and off sick on medication and waiting for counselling any help would be appreciated thanks

What abuse? You gave him the money willingly.

Many people have been fools and tried to buy a persons love. You got burned.

Best to put it behind you and try not to make the same mistakes in future.

the police won’t do anything….there’s no crime..,.you gave money to him willingly…..just draw a line under it and move on….you will be more savvy next time…..if there is a next time

I'm afraid you can't just have him arrested for abuse on request, it doesn't work like that. You gave him money voluntarily without any kind of written/signed agreement so I'm afraid no crime has taken place and the police won't be interested.

At 17 I lent a week’s wages to a boyfriend ( summer holiday work) - he then split up with me and it was impossible to get the money back.

Never lend anyone money. Ever.
That’s my rule now from that painful early lesson.

Help me understand. You gave your ex money? For food?

That's not abuse. You might be able to take him to Small Claims Court but you'd need an address. Perhaps ask his family or friends for an address. You may be able to get an address from the electoral register.
