Feeling rather down and invaded of my privacy and debating wether to live here anymore.

Does the crime ever get solved/people prosecuted? .... I guess with lack of not much evidence they will get away with it again and againHmm

What has peoples experience of burglaries been.

Hoping tomorrow will be a better day.

I caught two people stealing something we had just had delivered from our drive. A man and a woman. I'm old and five foot nothing and I don't know where it came from but I just got the rage and went ballistic at them. I must have scared the life out of them because they off loaded their van and put it back on my drive.

I took a photo of the van and registration plate and called the police to report the crime.

The woman used abusive language and I was pretty shook up afterwards. I'm ok now though and I got over it pretty quickly.

The police were amazing, they took it seriously. I wasn't expecting anything but they investigated and kept me updated. The van was apparently registered at a very dodgy address. There was a little bit more to it than this but I was kept in the loop and they contacted me several times in the following months.

They called me six months later and told me that unfortunately they were closing the case but would reopen it if ANPR cameras picked up the van.

We were burgled a couple of times many years ago when we lived in a not so nice area (once when we were asleep in bed}. The police came and dusted the window for prints ( I am definitely not rich or a footballer). Not really traumatised, I would say I was angry more than anything. Insurance paid for the stuff that was stolen. At the end of the day it was just stuff and we were ok.

I can honestly say that anytime I've needed the police they have always been there.

I hope you are feeling better now OP.

I was burgled many years ago. Only a set of speakers were taken as I had all my tech with me. I had no car, my TV was old, no jewellery worth anything etc.

What upset me was that someone had been in my house and going through my things, it is the invasion of privacy. I was so angry that someone thought it was acceptable to break in with a mindset of taking things I'd worked hard for rather then get off their arses and get a job. My cat was terrified. He was so upset when anyone came to the door for weeks and weeks afterwards.

We opened the garage doors on a Monday morning to find the car had gone. (The contents of the chest freezer had disappeared too, but we didn't find that out until later). It must have gone on either Saturday or Sunday: we hadn't heard a thing. Never saw the hide or hair of the car again.
