Repeated vandalism on my house

Hello, first time posting on here and would really appreciate some help as I don't know what to do. There are people who walk past my flat quite frequently and throw eggs at the window. It went from every now and then to at least once a week now, and I'm usually only dressed in a t-shirt and relaxing at home when it happens, so I can't exactly chase them. It's really starting to p*ss me off (not sure if you can say that here, so censored just to be safe). Today however, they took it a step further by throwing a rock through my window, and there's now a massive hole through my bathroom window, glass everywhere. I've contacted my landlord, who had to go private to get someone to fix it after trying 11 different numbers.

There was a seperate incident of someone breaking the glass of the door in the close hall (different person), and the police were completely useless (they were caught on camera, but tbf the person was wearing a mask). They broke into the flat upstairs. According to my neighbour, he saw the vandals today throwing rocks at another building and breaking those windows too, and the police even caught them doing it and they still did nothing about it, they just told them to go away basically. I was thinking of getting a security camera as I'm really getting sick of this and with them getting away with it, but I'm worried that the police won't really do anything even if they were literally caught on camera doing it. It's so freaking disrespectful. They always seem to target my flat specifically (and no, I haven't done anything to antagonise them), but if they're throwing rocks at other buildings then clearly they're just ars*holes who like to smash things.

Sorry for the rambling, but I was just wondering if the police would do anything about this? In terms of the cctv cameras, the other building they were throwing stones at does have them, so they should be caught on those cameras at the very least, and they attacked that building right after they threw a rock through mine. Is this enough to get the police involved? It's not like it's a one off, it's happened twice this past week. I don't really feel safe if they're going to be throwing rocks through my windows, so I'm thinking of installing my own camera, but that won't really help if the police won't do anything to stop it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you if you've read all the way through this.

Sorry, accidentally put some of this in italics without meaning to lol.

Did you report the rock through your window to police? If not, I would urge you to as that’s an escalation that they should definitely take seriously.

@GraceL365 Thank you for your reply, I wanted to go down in person to the police station this time so that they can't blow me off like last time (with pictures of the initial damage before it was boarded up). I hope they do take this seriously, but they're just so lazy and incompetent in my area that I'm worried they still might not. Thank you again for your reply :)

Update - They threw another stone at my window today (no damage was done). My neighbour however, actually caught them throwing the stone and yelled at them from the flat upstairs. Maybe that will deter them, maybe not. According to him, the group appeared be about 10 years old. I've already told the police and I've to contact them again tomorrow and show them the pictures. I feel a bit bad considering they're very young, but I'm just really sick of them thinking they can get away with smashing in my windows (throwing eggs is one thing, but rocks?). I don't know what will happen, probably nothing, but hopefully they'll at least cut it the fck out.

Don't feel bad. Young thugs will grow up into big thugs if allowed to get away with it. Kids like this are responsible for bricks going through bus windows, with the danger and inconvenience that causes. They know exactly what they're doing, for the most part.

Just keep reporting to the police. It’s ASB which needs dealing with, they need to get the neighbourhood policing team on it.

Did the vandalism stop eventually? I'm going through the same thing. 3 times in the past month I've had my gate kicked in,they kicked it that hard that it came off its hinges.

TBH I wouldn't hold out any hope with the police when they are that age, the area I am in is exactly the same, same aged kids too. The most the police said to me was I'm better off moving from the area, when they were called out about my kitchen window being put through with a brick. Almost every child here has an ASBO but they wear it with pride and don't really care. Caught their faces on camera and their parents denied it was them so the police cant do anything about it because of their ages.

In the last 6 months alone I have had my kitchen window put through, nextdoor have had about 4 new windows, a new front and back door, opposite have had 5 new windows and most houses are now empty and boarded up. Touch wood we are only getting knocks on the door every few days now and a few eggs thrown, waiting for the crab apples to start dropping again though.

Hello, you have my sympathies. I have had several acts of vandalism over the years including having an egg chucked at my car, several keyings on my car that looked like it was done with a chisel, handles sawn off a plastic dustbin, cctv upended so it looked at the sky and visits to my shed where I keep my fridge as no room in the kitchen when the door has been left open so the food will go off. I don't know who is doing this, as I hardly know anyone around here or more importantly, why. I have now installed 4 cctv cameras and it's stopped, but could start again if they wear hoods to disguise themselves, I have told the police but they didn't do anything
