That sounds like a shock but it's fairly straightforward.

Apply for replacement pass

Deal with window, either contact repair company like autoglass or your insurance company if you have specialist window cover

Horrid. Awful feeling.

Report to police and council. Anyone found to be displaying it whilst parked in a car park or bay can be issued with a penalty and separately can prosecuted for misuse of the badge.

You can buy a wallet which locks to the steering wheel. Are you in London?

workcontract · 25/04/2021 11:18

Yes in London

Please could you link me to one of these wallets? I cannot find anything on Amazon.

Yes you need to apply for new DPB (blue badge) as yours was stolen. It'll likely cost you another £10 and two photos.

Let police know too- the Local authority should be able to give you badge number of your stolen DP badge which you can update police with.
This is a rotten thing to happen
Hopefully insurance company will be able to arrange repair if your smashed window and any damage to your car.

Window not covered under insurance 😣

Window not covered under insurance 😣

Your car has been broken into, how is that not covered?

Percypigg · 25/04/2021 11:37

I'll try and find a link. The other thing is that some councils provide a residential parking permit (free or at a minimal cost) which can be displayed in your vehicle whilst it's parked in a permit bay. This negates the need to display the badge when you're at home. Similarly if you have a disabled bay.

Broken glass isn't covered

Once you have sorted everything else out get yourself a better insurance policy.

Sadly that can be an expensive lesson to take into account on your next renewal, or ask to add it now.

Windows can end up broken in many ways, I had my drivers side window smashed all over me when on a country road where another car sped by hitting my mirror and it slammed into the window.

Before you pay for the window have a check for any other potential window insurance such as with a bank account

FinallyFluid · 25/04/2021 11:53

Is glass not covered at all, or are they saying no because they presume your blue badge was on display and therefore an incitement ?

Either way it is a poor society when a blue badge is fair game. Angry

It's often not worth going through insurance anwyay, I had the same thing happen to me and paid £70 for side window repair, my excess was £200 and it would have put my premiums up, you'll probably be able to sort it quicker yourself as well which is a bonus

tiredmum2468 · 25/04/2021 13:40

@workcontract
I'm so sorry this is just awful;
I'd sort it out yourself because as people say it'll put your insurance up; I'd also report it to the police maybe a doorbell camera or something has some footage?? Hopefully they might catch them and defer it happening to anyone else x
