Stolen phone

To cut a long story short, my 11 year old son had his phone stolen 2 weeks ago. The police have been great at dealing with it and looking into the person in question, however today the police came round to inform me that the person in question had a solid alibi, so until new information comes to life and a massive if, then there's nothing more they can do. The officer also said someone will be speaking to my son at school considering his age and that he'd been involved in a theft. Does anyone know if this is normal procedure? My son isn't pleased as he didn't want anyone to know about what happened at school.

Did you ask why someone would be going in to school to speak to him? Does seem odd if they’ve said there’s nothing more they can do.
