I know this is a heck of a topic, but it’s happened to a man I know recently). Anyone know if any other cases? I’m not planning to bring it up/engage with it, but it would be useful to get some idea how common that is. Research yielded no results as it doesn’t seem to be discussed much, and in all the casesI found women were victims. Does anyone have any advice, or comment, or information of other men that’s happened to?

Why would it be useful to get some idea how common it is and why can't you Google? There were plenty of statistics when I searched just now.

"Does anyone have any advice"

I'm here for you if you need to talk. And done.

I don't know why you need statistics.

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/10/2020 11:26

Or information about other male victims.

Slightly bizarre questions if you're trying to help. Rather than asking here suggest you look for orgs that aupport (male) victims of sexual assualt. Victim support might be a good start.

For me, googling 'male victims of sexual violence UK' brings up SurvivorsUK, Male Survivors Partnership, UKSaysNoMore discussing the topic, a local charity to me, police, academic, and ONS statistics on the topic. Leaving out sexual brings up the ManKind Initiative and write ups mainly on domestic violence.

As already said, other than passing on the support organizations, looking into how often it happens isn't going to help much. Having been a victim of rape by a medical professional, reading the amount that it happened to others or seeing news reports involving it really helped me feel better, it only increased my anxiety. Just having people listen and not dismiss it just because it's not commonly heard was enough.

Not sure where the never in that sentence went, it should say stats and news reports never really helped me feel better.
