@lurker101

My old dentist murdered his wife and his girlfriend’s husband, staged it to look like suicide. He handed himself in about 15 years later. They made a tv show about it with Jimmy Nesbitt - The Secret.
Oooh - I remember that series it was brilliant, in Northern Ireland wasn’t it? And was his wife called Hazel I want to watch that again now, James Nesbitt was chilling

@Ffsffsffsffsffs

Oh, and my dad once walked in on Jimmy Saville in his pants in an office at a Leeds hospital. He was 'getting changed' Hmm
Your poor dad 😥
DeeDimer · 15/04/2021 20:36

My primary school teacher and his wife were murdered by their son, who was also in my school although a little younger.

Nonpayingdads · 15/04/2021 20:45

Fascinating

fightingirish · 15/04/2021 21:00

My kids teacher killed his wife and 3 boys then killed himself, little small Irish village turned upside down,

Imnotbent · 15/04/2021 21:13

Yes, many, but like a couple of others I worked in prisons for a long time. Cat A men and women. Also sat in the dock with a few during their trials. Nothing glamorous about any of them and I really object to them making money out of books etc.

AcornAutumn · 15/04/2021 21:14

Tony Blair.

AcornAutumn · 15/04/2021 21:15

Oh and Chris Huhne

Not sure he's famous though

Thelikelylass · 15/04/2021 21:16

Yes, ‘Mad’ Frankie Fraser.

Springsprung8 · 15/04/2021 21:17

@Chicchicchicchiclana

No.
Why even bother writing this 😂
TaTuirseOrm · 15/04/2021 21:29

Oh @fightingirish, that was so heartbreaking. I still think about her and her boys. #hernamewasclodagh

I was on a hen night in a limo driven by Gerry Hutch, one of the biggest gangland criminals in Ireland - the limo business was his legit business.

DiscordandRhyme · 15/04/2021 21:38

Not myself no.

Dad has (ex prison officer) and so has Mum (lived in an area with very prominent members of the IRA).

My sister also has met some notable people as she deals with MH with the police.

fightingirish · 16/04/2021 19:30

@TaTuirseOrm it was wicked wasn't it, my boy was in same class as one of the boys, she was the most lovely person. So gently spoken, she had such tragedy in her own family. I'll never forget her,

BusyLizzie61 · 16/04/2021 20:29

Many.
I worked with offenders.

queenofthenorthwest · 16/04/2021 20:36

I went to school with John Venebles.

TripleSeptic · 16/04/2021 20:48

My friend introduced me to a man who gave me the heebie jeebies and he had a really shit handshake. She told me afterwards that he was a terrorist and drug dealer, and was accused of murder. She went to school with him. I have no idea why he was walking the streets, but she thought it better to stay on the right side of him. He spoke about himself in the third person. "Ricky did this..." "Ricky doesn't like that..." It really freaked me out. He's dead now. A very weird afternoon in the pub was had by all. It didn't feel right before I knew that he was a bad'un.

sarahc336 · 16/04/2021 20:59

Yes several but I worked in a prison, we've had celebrities as well as well known criminals. They all look the same once in their prison attire though 🤔

TheSpottedZebra · 16/04/2021 21:35

@queenofthenorthwest

I went to school with John Venebles.
Blimey!

What was he like?

queenofthenorthwest · 17/04/2021 10:39

@TheSpottedZebra
He was a couple of years below me. I didn't know him and I can't say what he was like as such but I do remember he was really badly behaved once in assembly. Throwing chairs etc. I can't remember anything else about him.

luckylavender · 25/04/2021 16:33

@unmarkedbythat - the law states most definitely 'innocent until proven guilty', anything else is supposition.

Blindgossipfan · 25/04/2021 16:47

I am unfortunately very closely related to someone rather infamous. Had to change my surname when he was in the media and during his trial because people always asked if we were related. It doesn't help we look similar. I think people forget criminals also often have families. We become victims too.

username12345T · 25/04/2021 16:58

@Moondust001

I met Rosemary West and Myra Hindley - whilst they were in prison. Both were considered (and considered themselves) minor celebrities with other inmates fawning over them. I also met Jimmy Saville at a birthday party for a relative (obviously before the news broke) and he made my skin crawl even though I hadn't a clue about his activities. Just something about him, and I told my friend that I couldn't bear to be near him.
I'm surprised West and Hindley had other prisoners fawning over them. I heard that child abusers and child killers had to be protected in prison from other prisoners.
Sportslady44 · 05/01/2022 14:49

@hilarycat

I used to work in a women's prison and have met many notorious people including Rose West, Mairead Philpott, Joanna Dennehy and Shauna Hoare
poor you.

i hope i never meet any of them.
