CICA Assault claim advice please

Afternoon everyone,

So I was assaulted a week and a half ago in a night club (approximately 3:30 in the morning close to closing time) I was not drunk had about 6 or 7 not enough to get me drunk, I could probably find someone who could confirm this that was at the scene to. I did nothing to bring on the assault was simply trying to calm a situation down involving a friend and the person who then assaulted me, I was punched to the face With a lot of force, the offender had either a large ring or knuckleduster on which took a chunk out of my lip, as I fell to the floor I also lost consciousness for a second or 2, I needed 6 stitches in my lip which obviously has not fully healed yet, all of my teeth have been knocked out of place particularly the front ones where he has said atleast 1 or 2 of the nerves in my teeth will have died, the dentist and orthodontist are still coming up with a plan and said it will take the best part of a year to fix. My doctor has said I am also showing signs of PTSD, got an appointment next week with a mental health nurse.

Do you think I have a claim for CICA compensation?

I'm so sorry this happened to you. People can be such sh*tholes sometimes. Do you have a good support network or someone who you can talk you if you need to? I got mugged many years ago and assaulted (hit with a bottle so lots of little face cuts but thankfully no lasting damage!) and it affected me for years afterwards - counselling definitely helped.

I'm not sure exactly how CICA works but it sounds worth a try! Especially if you'll need to pay out a lot for dental work and potentially counselling (not sure if this is free on the NHS?)

Teeth - incredibly expensive treatment and long term for what you describe. I had an accident and required braces, then veneers for the dead teeth which discolour and cant be bleached and could not be aligned, then replacement veneers twice and will now need to get implants as the teeth are so thin replacement veneers are not an option. Depending on dental treatment plan you will require replacements/maintenance in the future which are considered cosmetic and not covered under NHS.

Hope you are okay but whatever you do teeth wise ask for short and long term impact.

Thank you very much for your concern, yes I have great family and friends who have been with me all the way through this experience, yep I keep seeing flashbacks really struggling to sleep plus more really struggling at the moment have not even thought about ringing a solicitor up yet. I’ve got dentist insurance luckily just waiting for the insurance form I filled out to come back, dentist said if I had to pay it, it would cost thousands so I’m kinda lucky I had this insurance in place.

Yeah my dentist said they would cost 1000s luckily I'm protected as I have insurance on my teeth! Just gonna be loads of appointments and inconvenience and trauma but like I said I’m lucky to have insurance.

Thank you for advice, the dentist also said the hospital should have moved my teeth into place when it happened rather than me having to wait 2 days till the Monday as now there will be more implications and the nerve in atleast 1 or 2 of my teeth will have died as the fine bones in my teeth will have cracked, going back in a month to see what he beat suggests as he has to speak with the orthodontist to see the best way forward

You can definitely apply. The crime needs to be reported to the police but does not need to have gone to court.

You can apply for up to 3 injuries including the PTSD. The PTSD has to have been confirmed by a psychiatrist or psychologist

It'll be too early for a diagnosis of PTSD yet but you could claim for other injuries. I'm not sure if you could add PTSD on later?

You won't be able to add it on; although if you get a diagnosis whilst they are assessing your claim you could. Once you have claimed, you can not claim again for the same incident
