If a person is already in prison for a crime committed against several people, and I report that they also committed that crime against me, is there any point if they're already in prison? What would happen?

If they are separate crimes then they could be prosecuted and if found guilty then have time added to their sentence.

Metaplasia · 28/11/2019 20:31

It was the same crime but multiple different times to a few different people, would it need to be a different type of crime?

Is it serious sexual offences OP? I’d urge to report if so

GrannyBags · 28/11/2019 20:54

Sorry, to be clear, a separate crime would be one that happened on a different occasion or had a different victim, even if the crime was the same.

Metaplasia · 28/11/2019 20:58

It is, there was a big investigation but I didn't find out about it until it was in the news and they were already in prison, not sure if the police would be interested in my contributions if the case is already closed?

Ah I see, thanks GrannyBags

If it is serious then the case will be reopened.

GrannyBags · 29/11/2019 08:27

This is if you are in the UK at least

GiveHerHellFromUs · 29/11/2019 08:38

Yeah it's still a separate crime. It's the same concept as committing 3 burglaries - you'd be charged for all 3 separately.

I hope you're ok x

Metaplasia · 29/11/2019 12:22

I'm in the UK yes, and I'm fine thank you for asking GiveHerHell Smile Does anyone know where I would start then? Do I just pop into the local station or call 101 or something? Thank you all for your help x

OP posts:
Namechanger23455 · 29/11/2019 13:19

I’d call 101 explain the situation and then they will arrange an app for you probably at the police station.

GoingToWearPantiesLikeAnElf · 29/11/2019 13:25

Good Luck OP Shamrock. I hope you get justice and they have their sentence extended. Very brave of you. I hope you get support - there are fantastic women on here who I know will give online support Flowers
And do take care of you.

Metaplasia · 29/11/2019 16:13

Thank you all so much
Gin and Flowers for all!
I'll come back and update when I've spoken to somebody irl as I haven't ever said it out loud so it's going to be a difficult step but I'm feeling hopeful x

Bit the bullet and got in touch with someone, she's going to call me back when she's in work next week and see where we can go from there Smile

Well done OP, that decision took courage Flowers

toothfairy73 · 15/02/2020 18:55

Well done OP. This is a really big brave step you have taken. I really recommend getting in touch with rape crisis and asking for an independent sexual violence advocate (ISVA). They will support you throughout. Also here is a website I and 4 other survivors set up which might help warriorwoman.blog/. Feel free to contact us if you need support xx
