Neighbours smoking weed

I am at the end of my tether and don't know where to go from here!

We live in a small block of council owned flats, downstairs neighbours smoke weed in their flat and the smell comes directly up and through our windows (CLOSED windows may I add).

The smell is worst in my bedroom and the living room and is so strong! I have a DD3 and a baby on the way, baby will obviously be sleeping in my room with me for the first few months after it is born, and I'm so concerned about him/her being exposed to this!

Have contacted police and the housing association and no one will do anything! Housing Association have sent warning letters which haven't worked, and the police don't seem to take the complaint seriously. Where can I go from here?!

I would put clingfilm over the window once the baby arrives and keep on complaining.

It will soon be legal and you won't be able to dictate people smoking in their own homes.

I doubt the police will care unless they are operating a massive grow there.

Not that I condone people smoking indoors. It's grim IMO.

This is so unfair. Clutching at straws, but would you consider moving? Would your midwife or GP write a letter of support saying this might affect infant health? Would appealing directly to the smokers be possible? Someone at work has had this issue for years with dealers next door and thank goodness for her they have finally moved.

The police/council will do nothing I'm afraid, it took months and months for them to tackle the heroin/crack house at the end of our old road and there were needles littering the street and lots of burglaries. You probably would have been best talking to your neighbours directly rather than getting letters sent to them, they are unlikely to appreciate being dobbed in even if they faced no consequences. Could you afford to buy an air purifier? Also check if you have air vents next to theirs, this is the set up in our block, and cover them with something so the smell doesn't get in.

i say let em blaze

Yes I have spoken with them directly and explained the situation, hasn't changed a thing. Might I add, it isn't THEIR home, they are housing association tenants just like me, and signed a contract at the beginning of the tenancy which clearly said that drugs will not be tolerated. I didn't ask for letters to be sent, this is just the housing company's cop out way of trying to deal with it. If they want to smoke then that's fine, but do it the hell away from where other people are having to smell it constantly!
