Can you report to police just to be logged?

So my kids dad is coming a lot more aggressive recently.
Smashing my car and phone yesterday.
I want to call police but don’t want to make the situation worse.

Does anyone know if I am able to report this to the police just so they have it logged? Like I don’t really want anything to happen from it, but for them to just have a record of it incase it happens again or whatever? Or would they have to look into it further?

No, they will take action. And it sounds like they should too.

Dont put up with this behaviour, it will escalate.

All the best x

I sympathise with you, I really do but what’s the point in ‘logging it’ if you don’t want to take anything further? If it were possible, you might as well just not bother. You don’t have to put up with this, it’s no way to live for you or your children. Get it sorted.

Yes you can actually say you would like them to make a note of his behaviour just in case it escalates further. I did it and gave a telephone statement about my stbxh behaviour.

Hi,

You can speak to police for advice and ask what their policy is before disclosing actual
arrestable events. They will want to take action but will probably be pragmatic as without someone (you) willing to give evidence and go to court it is unlikely to have an effective outcome - obviously they don't want to arrest and release without charge as it could just make things worse. Please do speak to them for advice! You can make an appointment at a safe place that suits you.

Meanwhile, there is an app called Bright Sky. It looks like a weather app and you can upload pics, notes of what has happened, videos etc and it goes to a cloud so it doesn't stay on your phone where an abusive partner can find it. This will help you see any pattern forming and to remember everything and help with evidence later should you need it.

Please stay safe and get the situation sorted!
