Youths on quad bikes and scramble bikes in housing estate. Best course of action.

Over the last week we've had two youths tearing along the footpaths in our estate on a small quad bike and a scramble motorbike. I've reported it to 101 three times already.

They appear to be meeting our local drug dealers in an alleyway near my house. I report the drug dealers to 101 most weeks. It's usually blatant money exchange for a small packet.

Should I call 999 for a more urgent, and actual, response when the lads are out there tearing down the paths? We never see the police unless the dealers are actually waving knives around or hurt each other.

Definitely DO NOT call 999. This is an emergency number. Anti social behaviour, although annoying, is not an emergency. I am afraid all you can do is continue to log instances (keep a personal diary of events too).

Thanks star. I think I'm going to have to prioritise 101 every time even if it's several times a day and hope it reaches the top of a "to-do" list.

Unfortunately I don’t think this is something where you are Going to call the police and it’s going to stop. Even when they attend they’ll just do it again when the police have gone. It might be worth invoking the community policing team longer term- looking at starting at neighbourhood watch etc? I’m sure they’ll have ideas and you can email them

I'd contact your local council rep, and ask them to intervene on the community's behalf. Also try your MP, as they should be willing and able to put pressure on. Keep a log, and encourage neighbours to join you in raising the issue with councillors and the non-emergency police number. They may send out PCSOs or extra police patrols if they get enough complaints.

This is very much a matter to burden local politicians rather than the police. Poor bastards are stretched so think they look like Mr Tickle.

I'll get onto the local councillor, I'm sure they'll know the community police officers. And our MP, who I hadn't thought of.

megletthesecond anyone with a political ambition should be desperate to help out at the moment, whether that's an MP or councillor, as every vote counts especially during these unpredictable political times. We could have a snap election any time...use their keenness to secure votes to your advantage to get stuff done!

My MP knows I wouldn't vote for her for love nor money. We've had lots of correspondence over the years.
The councillor will probably come good though.

Write to your MP and ask them to contact the Secretary of State at the Home Office on your behalf (as their constituent), cc the local Police and councillors. I disagree with starzig, if young people were at risk in this way (dealing illegal drugs, riding vehicles they don't own/ can't drive/aren't insured for) I would call 999. They are children that need safeguarding.

Your Council might have people dealing with anti-social behaviour. Quad bikes, etc, if being driven on roads need to be road legal. They're not allowed on footpaths. Some Police forces do periodic crack downs and crush illegal vehicles.
