Racist abuse. Need to vent...

Just been to the supermarket to do my normal weekly shop. I live in a predominantly white area however am mixed race myself, Black Caribbean and British Caucasian. I don't think about my race, nor the race of others. I couldn't care less what race, ethnicity, nationality etc you are.

Whilst walking to the shops, 3 lads about age 15/16 cycled passed me shouting 'nigga nigga' and 'get out you paki' (my family are from the Caribbean so no idea where that came from).

I'm so, so wound up. Upset. I called 101 to report it. They can't do anything but just in case it happens again to someone else and someone identifies them. Wasn't quick enough to say something witty in return. I just feel deflated.

Not sure what I'm expecting anyone to say. Guess I just need a hand hold. Some horrid people out there...

Reflects badly on them, not on you. Some young people are just cunts. Like the students chanting racist shot outside the door of a black student.
Hoping the police took it seriously.

@GriefLeavesItsMark I did see gang on the news. How awful for her. It really does hurt. It's scary to know people think that way.

Thanks for your message. It's a horrid feeling to be abused in that way and not have a chance to respond.

Life eh...

They are just trying to seem macho with their friends - not worth a second thought. I know it is a pain, but they are just stupid kids and not worth your attention. Flowers

ArizonaLeone · 18/03/2018 12:45

Thanks @Mishappening - I feel like such a doughnut for being upset about this.

Flowers and hand hold. What horrible, ignorant, thick people.

GriefLeavesItsMark · 18/03/2018 12:51

You have every right to feel upsetting angry. I would probably want to track them down and tazer them.
I'd like to think their parents would be ashamed if they knew, but they probably wouldn't be.

You have every right to feel upset, OP - what they did was disgusting and such ignorance fills me with rage. I understand how you feel. It's a kind of combination of helplessness/anger/humliation/frustration and is really upsetting. I'm so sorry that people still make remarks like that. Vent all you need to! Flowers

@ArizonaLeone don't feel like a doughnut for feeling upset by this behaviour. You have every right to be upset, and it's awful that police can't do more. I have two mixed race little boys and when my eldest (3yrs old) was about 1, before I had my second son, we were walking round to our local Asda and two lads about the same age as those in your situation started to shout at me and my son "we vote UKIP we vote UKIP!!" At the time I didn't know about UKIP so when I asked their dad (he's Nigerian) he explained. If I had known I would have reacted differently. People can be disgusting and I worry everyday that my sons will endure more incidents like this but the reaction to these behaviours is what matters. I want my sons to always know that they are the greatest thing and can go anywhere and be anything, and to be proud of where they come from. Always know that you are great and that these people will never be anything or go anywhere with behaviour and views like that x
