drinkswineoutofamug · 18/01/2017 21:38

Will be brief, daughter due to be sent down. Any one have a clue what to pack? Do we pack a bag? I've looked on line and it's a bit vague . Any help greatly appreciated.

Oh, if the prison ring you on her behalf OP, they will say "this is mr/miss x from HMP Styal. Are you expecting a call about anyone?" And say nothing else. So it's important at that point you clock it's the prison and say "yes my daughter her name is x" straight away otherwise they will put the phone down x

catinbooots · 20/01/2017 07:19

Fruitcider don't men get any toiletries free? That's awful

In both women's prisons I went to we were supplied with shampoo, shower gel, san pro, toothpaste and toothbrush.

Loads and loads of girls come in off the streets with absolutely nothing or nobody to support them Sad

UnbornMortificado · 20/01/2017 08:23

I've heard women's prisons are a lot more comfortable so to speak then men's.

My friend came out with a load of certificates, she did a drugs and alcohol course and ended up mentoring new inmates (This was Low Newton)

Drinkswine hopefully they will have a similar scheme in Styal. Hope you've managed a bit sleep and hear something soon.

LauraMipsum · 20/01/2017 08:52

She won't be allowed to contact Fuckwit drinks as from what you've said it was a bail condition that she didn't before she went in and they will be aware of that.

drinkswineoutofamug · 20/01/2017 08:57

Morning all. Not much sleep. What if she doesn't want to call me? My mind is doing over time now. I'm in work in 2 hours

Thinkin of you drinks. Look after yourself - you're an amazing mum Flowers

catinbooots · 20/01/2017 09:07

If she doesn't call you you can still go up to the jail and hand in her property.

Occasionally the reception phone call is given the next day so try not to panic.

She may have used her one phonecall on the gf despite the bail conditions. Often things like that slip through the net. If she didn't have any cash on her she will have to wait to receive funds before she can purchase phone credit. It could take up to a week.

How are you feeling OP?

catinbooots · 20/01/2017 09:09

She will also have to have all her phone contacts security checked and added to her approved list. This can take a few days too, particularly as it is the weekend.

UnbornMortificado · 20/01/2017 09:11

Unless she's expecting the gf to send money and clothes I'm pretty sure she will be calling you.

It's already been said but you sound like a brilliant mam Flowers

drinkswineoutofamug · 20/01/2017 09:31

It's killing me. Think yesterday even though I knew it was going to happen I was just numb with it. Last night I wanted to cry. This morning I'm fired and feel like I'm on auto pilot.

OP posts:
drinkswineoutofamug · 20/01/2017 09:32

Ffs tired not fired! How the hell did that happen ? Bloody auto correct!

OP posts:
CondensedMilkSarnies · 20/01/2017 09:43

I'm not surprised you're tired - the adrenalin would have kept you going yesterday and now you've crashed.

Sorry she hasn't called you . My bet is that she called Fuckwit, although I hope I'm wrong . Try not to be upset if she has , 'love/dependency in these situations is very strong , it doesn't mean she doesn't love you .

My friends abusive partner was jailed for attacking her among other things and he still managed to
Contact her from prison.

Fingers crossed you get some news today , can you phone in sick or will the distraction of work help ?

Keep reminding yourself that she is at least in a safe place .

drinkswineoutofamug · 20/01/2017 09:50

I phoned the prison going to see her on Tuesday . They were helpful.

catinbooots · 20/01/2017 10:00

That's brilliant news drinks

You need to try and find things to do to keep you busy this weekend

Once you've seen her you feel so much better

Xxx

SecretWitch · 20/01/2017 10:06

I am thinking about you and your dd. I have epilepsy and apparently am very combative after a seizure. My dh also notes personality changes in me that can last for up to a week. I wonder if this played a part in your daughter's actions.

I am wishing you both the best, Op. Hopefully this too shall pass and your dd will move on to a better life. You sound like a lovely and supportive mum. Please remember to take care of yourself during this time. Flowers

CondensedMilkSarnies · 20/01/2017 10:13

That's good Drinks .

UnbornMortificado · 20/01/2017 10:17

Brilliant news Flowers

Carollocking · 20/01/2017 10:22

Hope she manages to get herself sorted in prison my heart is with you all,and let's hope you get a very different daughter at the end of it all.best wishes carol

drinkswineoutofamug · 20/01/2017 12:44

I got sent home from work. Unfit to work ☹️ I've been given a list off the prison of what I can take in. She's been sent a hospital appointment I'm gathering they have to take her? Would I be able to go too?

OP posts:
cupsanddogs · 20/01/2017 12:50

Unmumsnetty hugs drinks.
I did some pretty stupid stuff to survive while in an abusive relationship at 19 and I know for a fact neither of my parents would be as supportive as you.

catinbooots · 20/01/2017 13:07

Oh drinks it's probably for the best. I hope your work were kind.

Glad the prison are being helpful and glad they are sorting out her healthcare quickly.

Unfortunately you won't be able go to the hospital with her. She will be taken out with officers and they won't tell her which hospital or when. They will just come and get her with no warning so no chance to make phone calls etc. It's a security thing.

Usually the officers that take you out to appointments are very discrete and considerate.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 20/01/2017 13:22

Glad the prison have been helpful to you. Hope you can get some sleep, and try not to worry too much, far easier said than done I know. You sound like a brilliant mum Flowers

Oogle · 20/01/2017 13:38

Sending hugs.

Prison officers are usually pretty helpful when you call. You can also speak to pastoral care and they'll send someone to check she's ok and phone you back.

It's heartbreaking when a loved one is sent to prison, so absolutely no judging here. xxx

CondensedMilkSarnies · 20/01/2017 18:45

I hope you get sick pay Drinks. If I were you I'd get a docs cert for at least 4 weeks, you certainly deserve to take your time to gather yourself and process all of this, your emotions must be all over the show and you need to be careful you don't have an emotional breakdown ( I did- it hit me like a ton of bricks) xx

drinkswineoutofamug · 20/01/2017 19:09

She's phoned she's ok and as usual wants money off me
