Plate 1. King of the World.
The boy knew he was well-favoured. French on his father's side. Any lingering doubt of his Fathers side became clearer as he morphed into a sandy, mop-haired mini version of the great man. Good to impress the fillies with aswell (whatever that meant).
American on his mother's side. Well, enough said!
There was a 'de' in the middle of his surname and a LOT of money and connections somewhere too.
And so, he was poised to become King of the World. Or at least of a rich, stable, healthy, respected and respectful European country. With no written constitution. With his charm, nature and connections what could possibly go wrong?
