Laptop recommendations

[Moonflowered]

My very elderly laptop needs replacing and while online shopping I've realised how much the keyboard matters. I'm going to have to go to a real shop to check out the different options but I wondered if anyone here has a recommendation for a good value laptop that feels nice to type on for hours at a time? Bonus points if it has home/end/page up keys to help jump around a big WIP. Thank you x

Have you considered having a separate keyboard? I have had remote keyboards for years. I work from home, like you it can be hours at a time. I also have a large 23 " monitor and a comfortable office chair (both 2nd hand) I sit back into the chair and look straight ahead. I don't crouch.

I'd second the advice of getting a laptop, but if you're using it primarily in one place (as it sounds like you are) and only occasionally need to travel with it, then use it as your computer, but attach a separate monitor (as big as you can afford and have space for) and a decent keyboard. It makes a ton of difference to how you sit and work.

My desk doubles up as the kitchen table so I don't have monitor and prefer not to keep packing a keyboard away.
