Agented authors - how long to receive contract?

Hi all,

Those of you who have an agent, how long did it take for them to send through your contract to sign among other things? I verbally accepted an offer of rep about three days ago and have heard nothing since (they acknowledge my acceptance the same day). Am I just being impatient (probably)? But everywhere I search people say they got their contract the same day or within a day.

Mine took ages. I think about six weeks (which seemed ages at the time). My agent came looking for me (she headhunted me when setting up the agency) which might affect things a bit, as I was one of the first onboard, but it still seemed to take forever!

It will be fine! It can take time to sort paperwork etc, but you've got a verbal agreement and that's most of the battle. Deep breaths, the contract will be with you soon, don't worry.

A week or ten days, I think?

And was your agent silent up until then? That’s what’s making me most nervous. 4 days of radio silence.
