I’m going to write a book

I’ve always loved reading and writing. It’s always been a passion of mine. As embarrassing as it is, between the ages of 13 and 20 I had multiple wattpad and tumblr accounts that were pretty popular, with a ton of followers.

So I’m going to try and write a fantasy book. I’ve got a pretty solid idea, it’s just fluffing it out now.

I decided to write a novel and did, 100k words, e-published it myself, simply because I wanted to prove I could. Not done any promotion - and really don’t care how many it sells.

I'm 63k words into my fantasy novel it's taken me 18months so far but accelerating as I found a great writing group and specifically a writing buddy who is working on her own book. We meet most weeks and sit in silence and write together.

Have done a rough outline including main character arcs etc but finding I'm writing a lot of notes to my future self to go back and forshadow this thing. It's a bit like time travel. Just remember to add him being bitten THEN, now his sudden fear of dogs makes sense!!
My advice is to try not to worry too much about detail early on. Get the plot, dialogue, emotional beats and major conflicts down and redraft once you finish the story.
