Self publishing?

Not creative writing maybe... but I want to write a cook book.
In fact I have 2 cook book ideas.

Just wondering...
Is it better to start an insta page and get loads of followers first then hope I can find an agent?
Or just self publish it?
Anyone have any advice please? I'd really appreciate it 💛

Someone I know did loads of insta / Twitter recipes and built up a following and then had a successful cook book off the back of it

And (really not my subject area) but if you have a particular take on a cuisine, a unique perspective or an unusual angle etc you’re more likely to get a traditional deal off that’s what you’re after

I think you’ll find it hard to make the production standard of a self-published cookbook competitive without investing a fair sum unless it’s for an underserved niche audience. A blog would be easier
