Hi.
On Thursday June 3rd there will be a twitter pitching event, at which agents will scroll through looking for concepts that interest them and if they give you a like (heart) it's an invitation to send in your query letter/ first pages they specify what they'd want
It's an opportunity to get to the top of the slush pile. I've done four and did have a NY agent read my pages and ask for more (came to nothing in the end), a London agent who I never heard back from, and a boutique agency who said I'd need to age my young-YA story for them. For 2 of them no hearts, but I'll do it again.
No charge for any of this. the info is at pitchwars.org/pitmad/ . You have to be sure to use the right hashtags, as the agents will search for their interest area by them. Mine are usually #PitMad (essential to be found) #A (adult) #F (Fantasy) for example. All of the #s in use are on that website.
You should have a completed manuscript to enter, because you should be ready to send off if you get a heart.
I'm probably going to do it again - nothing ventured and all that - but I will be busy with w*rk and kids...
