Page Numbering

I have just spotted on my draft paperback novel (I plan to self publish via Amazon) that my blank pages have been numbered.

My acknowledgements, about the author etc. are numbered using roman numerals. I have a prologue (numbered as page 1). Chapter 1 is numbered as page 5 (even though there is a blank page between prologue and chapter 1).

Anyone?

Trying to lay my hands on another book with a prologue but so far no joy...

Anyone?

Maggie O'Farrell's Instructions for a Heatwave. The first few pages aren't numbered at all (reviews, title page, the page, copyright info, dedication, etc). It then has a page headed 'Thursday 15 July 1976..." which is a sort of prologue with info about the Drought Act. Then a blank page, then the first chapter (although no chapter numbers) starts on page 3, so the prologue 'Thursday...' was page 1.

But I've also just found two with unnumbered prologue pages - Eleanor Oliphant, and The Siege by Helen Dunmore. Perhaps way of numbering either is okay?

I meant 'either way of numbering' - not sure how I got the word order wrong!

Thanks nineseven. I am loathe to mess about with it so might leave it just as it is.
