Self publishing - how do you choose sub categories

I’ve self published my first work via Amazon and while I could choose 2 categories, I wasn’t given an option to choose sub categories. I did research on key words and included the ones that identify the categories I wanted, but I’m still in the very broad categories - and therefore sitting higher in the category ranking. Annoyingly, if I was in the sub cat I want to be in, I’d be in top 50. Can anyone help advise me what I’m doing wrong? Thanks

There was a thread about this on facebook and while I didn’t folly the detail they definitely said thet once you know what subcategories you want to be in you’ll have to contact Amazon by email or phone to ask them to move your book. There’s also a program called Publisher Rocket that someone recommended to me for finding subcategories but I haven’t tried it yet.
