So I’m an absolute beginner here. I’ve written a children’s book and an illustrator friend as hand drawn some images and scanned them in and emailed to me. I’m written this book not for profit and would like to put it on amazon as a free e book. What’s the next stage to format my words and the images into an e book? Do I need someone techy to do it for me?

@Pinkmoondust, congratulations!

Has your booked been critiqued, by say a writing group? Is it picture book, or early reader? A writer friend of mine has written several picture books with an average of 600 words, and they have taken her months of redrafting and critiquing to get them to a point where they can be published.

Hi it’s a picture book. Where would I find a writing group for critique? My Husband is a copywriter and he has gone through it with me but would benefit from having an outsider take a look. It’s a very of the moment book (Covid) and wanted to bring it out more to help children than looking for profit. If that makes sense.

@Pinkmoondust , picture books are trickier than they first appear, I had no idea, as it's not my area. You could try your local library, SCBWI, City Lit and maybe local writers groups for a critique group. They're all seem to be run online at the moment. A critique group, and a good book editor can take your story beyond the copy edit stage, polish it up, and make it shine.
