HQ Digital open submissions

In case this would be helpful to anyone I've just seen that HQ Digital are currently open for submissions which means you can submit without an agent. They're an Imprint of Harper Collins (who are my publishers), they aren't after children's, poetry, sci-fi/fantasy. Hope that helps someone!

Thanks Louisa.

My latest novel is currently at the query stage (only been out two weeks and enjoying the traditional silence from agents Sad ).

I've been wondering whether to try sending it to an e-publisher in the meantime, so will check this out.

Thank you. Not snakily but genuinely liked the ... Harper Collins (who are my publishers) most impressive.

LouisaMayAlcott · 02/10/2020 21:21

@Zilla1 oops I hadn't thought about how that might sound, I like to sing their praises because a) they are great and b) I'm so happy they wanted to publish me lol

Louisa, I wasn't being snarky, it sounds great and you will have earned it. Publishers don't gift contracts except to celebrities and their offspring so well done.

Thanks for the headsup, I did submit to Harper Collins Avon but got turned down. I wonder if I can submit to HQ too?

WeetabixComesAtAPrice · 03/10/2020 08:34

I had a look at Avon as well following Louisa's tip and I couldn't see anything to say you couldn't submit to more than one Harper Collins imprint.

Was it just a form rejection you got, blackrabbit?

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · 03/10/2020 09:26

Yes, it was. At least they replied though! It's so annoying to just hear NOTHING...

WeetabixComesAtAPrice · 03/10/2020 09:40

Yes, I hate that. It's awful when you are waiting for an agent's response but know in all probability your submission has already been deleted. I know they're very busy and their priority has to be their existing clients, but I wish they'd take two seconds to copy and paste a 'thanks but no thanks' email to those waiting in the slush pile.
