Social Media

Does anyone us social media to promote their book? I have self published a book and to do it justice, it seems that you need to use social media to promote it. I am designing a website because I want to blog and use it as a link to future potential small business (related to books/writing). Also writing in a pen name.

Other forms of social media (in line with target demographics are facebook and Pinterest). I think twitter might drive me crazy after a while. It seems a lot to keep on top of.

Anyone?

I use Twitter a lot. But, I built up my profile there before publication so that when I was in a position to announce my contract and cover reveal etc I was already interacting with others. And I do a lot of retweeting of other authors books to give support to them. I also have an Instagram account but I'm never as busy there.

Thanks Louisa. Yes, on first glance, I noticed a lot of re-tweeting going on of other authors (looked at a few authors twitter accounts). All of this seems to detract a bit from actual writing but perhaps in another way it is a welcome break - I like the idea of writing short articles connected to my book and experimenting with my new camera for my website (whilst procrastinating over my second novel which right now, feels overwhelming.
