So after many months I think it’s ready to put out there. Any help, advice for the next step would be great. Would like the trad route but curious about Amazon too. Just wondering if children’s stories are popular though? 🙏

Is it a novel?
Have you thought about approaching some agents?

Well, what length is it? Is it a novel? A picture book? For what age group?

If you’re as sure as you can be that it’s absolutely as good as you can make it, it’s been read by brutally honest people who know the genre/audience etc, then get yourself a copy of the Children’s Writers and Artists’ Yearbook for this year, and start identifying potential agents. I would send to five or so initially, and see whether there’s anything in common in their feedback identifying a problem you could rectify before widening your search.

I saw somewhere that Briony Woods at DKW agency is open for submissions and I know she has other children book authors on her list.

Thank you, it is a story- 3000 ish words. About the discovery of an ancient teddy bear, told through the eyes of the bear. I’m not sure what genre this would fit in.

Sounds like a chapter book for young readers but older than the picture book market. For a picture book, you really need to be 500 words max. You need to look at other books similar to yours and get a feel for the market, if you want to go trad.
