Anyone tried podcasting?

Hello, I’ve started a podcast for Little Ted said... 5 minute stories for under 5s. I’m uploading a new story every week and have recorded 15 so far. I’m chuffed I’ve managed to get this far in terms of sharing my Little Ted said stories, but a bit unsure what to do next? Anyone have any experience of podcasting and promoting your podcast??

It sounds very professional OP. Well done.

I'm not sure about the boundary between podcasts and audio books but are you only publishing on Apple? This felt like more of an audio book to me and I'd thought Amazon Audible was the most popular vehicle for audio books and Spotify for podcasts. I only ask to check your creative efforts are planted where most audiences would look for them.

Did you narrate it and produce the audio yourself or contract it out? How did you find working with Apple?
Was it difficult to get the appropriate rights for the music?

Good luck.

I am using Buzzsprout which publishes podcast to the most popular sites including Spotify. Yes that’s me talking - I’ve always had a clear voice in my head about what Little Ted sounds like, so podcast seemed the way to go. Will check out Audible and what the options are. Music I’m using was created in 1920s so out of copyright. Thanks.

Good for you, OP. That all sounds great. I could be wrong but Audible seems to me to be the leading audio book site and your story seems as much if not more an audio book as a podcast. I'd not thought about using out of copyright music.

Good luck.

I forgot to say I thought your narration seemed to me to be as good as a professional actor. Did you go to a studio or use your own microphones?

What's your revenue model? Do you see the podcasts as advertising for any print books or do Apple pay per listen like Spotify?

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve looked into Audible and feel it would work best as a compilation of stories, so I’ll give it a month or so once my confidence and tech skills have improved, and try putting one together.

At the moment I'm not doing this for commercial reasons, just because I missed being creative as my current job doesn't offer much of that sort of thing. Plus it gives me the opportunity to see what folk think of Little Ted said...
