Bare basics when writing first drafts

Does anyone else write the bare minimum of their story before adding to it once they've got the main structure? I'm finding that I'm able to write more doing it this way, as I don't feel as though I'm not making progress.

Thoughts?

Sometimes if I get really blocked I try this as a way to just get the basic idea for the material out there, then add in the rest later. Only problem is that when do this it remains a bit 'skeletal'. For me personally if I try to write it properly it does work better, even if slower.
