Can someone help with the simplest and easiest way to do this?

I've written a short information article which will be printed in leaflet form and distributed to members of a hobby society I belong to, and it will also be handed to the general public at events.

Please can you advise how I go about the copyright thing, I've never done anything like this before. Thank you.

You don’t really need to “do” anything other than make sure you print a copyright notice on the leaflet e.g.

Text copyright [c] Trouble With Nargles, 2019

Oh that's great, thank you.

You can add all sorts of stuff to the basic notice - All rights reserved. No unauthorised reproduction of this material in any form... blah blah.

But really you just need the copyright notice.

Are you based in England and Wales? If so, copyright is created automatically. You can add the © 2019 Trouble with Gargles at the bottom/in a footer to make it clear.

As you've raised it, make sure the work is original and you haven't copied substantial portions of someone else's text and potentially breached their copyright.

As an aside, you said you've written this. Is it only text or did you include any photographs? If photographs then are they your own or have you copied anyone else's photographs? I mention it as have seen many occasions when someone has taken a photograph from the web and not realised that copyright can reside in photographs, they've copied something from Google (It's OK, it's from Google) then they get a bill from Getty Images.

Hope the audience like your work.

It is just text, although the society may add their own logo which is fine (I'm a committee member anyway) and it is original, I haven't copied or even paraphrased anything else. The whole thing was an utter stream of consciousness for about 4 hours this afternoon!
