What got you into creative writing?

Just wondering what got everyone into creative writing but also the genre they write in?

I use Elsie Thomas as a pen name for my children's books and poems because my real name, Billiejo Priestley I have released bdsm/erotica so didn't want them to clash.

I got into writing through poetry, firstly with BDSM/erotica, and then children's stories as I had my own children and often made up stories for them at night.

I'm still quite a novice at things, but have always liked to express my imagination through writing from a young age. I like to write stories with very complicated plots (meaning a lot is going on), that are part dramatic part comedic.
Until recently (I'm still a university student), I had very few opportunities to write creatively in school so much of what I have done so far is on my own time. I struggle to find people who have the time and energy to read my writing, as there are so many well-intentioned people who will be genuinely very excited to take a look at something, and then things come up.
