Short story competitions?

I've managed to write a short story and had a couple of people suggest i should put it in to a competition.

Any recommendations?

Mslexia has one. Not sure when they open but it's a good one I think. One of my friends was longlisted last year.

Maybe we should make a mumsnet spreadsheet, calendar of submission dates for the first 6 months of the year? I'd be up for working on this spreadsheet together if others would?

Magazines and journals have submission slots too, which we could add to spreadsheet. Would like a project.
