Anyone hand write rather than type?

Sounds like a stupid question but I recall reading an article many years ago that the tone of writing has changed since people started typing novels rather than hand writing them. I do think I am more selective with my sentences when hand writing but not sure if this would contribute to the quality of my work overall? Do you prefer to type or hand write?

I much prefer typing as I can go back and alter easily.
Also my spelling is bad, so it's helpful to have the spell check.

I use a bit of both techniques. I don't really use a laptop, so if I write whilst out and about/in a different room then I use a notebook then type it up on my computer later. Probably the bulk of my work is done on the computer where my work becomes sharper and more refined as I re-write it/retype it. I can touch type and find this aids me greatly, I am also extremely grateful for spell-checker!

A year ago I started to write my autobiography and I have hand written it. I have some lovely pens and I think it makes it a nicer way to do it for me.

I prefer typing for a few reasons.

  1. editing is easier
  2. if you are getting editors, proofreaders etc it is easier
  3. I struggle to write, my hand gets cramp after a minute or two
  4. I type faster than I write and finally 5) I find my stories flow, so while I am typing one more my mind is already planning the next, while writing I can't keep up with my mind while typing I can.

I do both. Sometimes when I get an idea out in two different ways (typing, and hand writing) your right the tone etc. Does change. Then I can use bits of both where it works better. I like handwriting because I can write in the margins. Also if I cross something out it's still there so I can add it back in if I want to. It would get messy/chaotic handwriting everything (not to mention time consuming) so it gets word processed in the end.
