am new, and have found this page for writers! woo! am interested to discover who is writing what?

I'm writing a book about a woman who murders paedophiles (ooh). Not finished yet, no agent, no social media presence, nothing. will probably self pub when I'm finished.

anyone have any tips or hints or links to stuff I need to know?

I write romance/erotica - self-published :) Only have one book out and some short stories

I'm determined to finish a novella that's been living with me for a few years now. It started life as a sitcom script, but I think it could work well as a mini series. I've promised myself tomorrow is the day it becomes a priority.

Thanks mzterry! There's a competition which closes on 1st Oct which I'm hoping to enter. I figure if it at least motivates me to get finish what I've started then even if I don't submit it to that one, at least it'll be ready to go elsewhere. Will wait to hear how you find the self pub route...

Why aim at self-publishing? It's incredibly difficult to publicise your own book and it's time better spent writing. What stops you thinking you'll try for an agent?

Even trad published authors have to do their own marketing (only the big names get the advertising spend). And I know indie authors doing minimal marketing and making a killing.
