Canal Boating Times

This is a free newspaper which I discovered at a local boatyard. It comes out monthly and most months they publish a short story. Submissions are invited. There's no payment though, and it has to have a canal theme, but could help to get one's name known.

Anyway, I submitted a story about six months ago, and today it appears in print, in the January 2018 issue. The Last Man is a post-apocalyptic, canal-themed, winter romance, so if you have a canal boatyard near you, grab your free copy and see what you think.

Congratulations leonardthelemming Star I think that's a fantastic achievement. There may not have been payment but as you say, it's a great way to get your name in print and also allows for the possibility that if readers respond well to the story, the author may be invited to submit something else to the publication. So well done you, and I am sad I cannot read your story as I am not a boat owner nor do I live near a canal. Is there anywhere else we might view/read?

Fantastic post. Could 'Canal Boating Times' be a featured publication on 'The News Quiz' or 'Mock the Week' which ever one it is? Leonard can you 'publish' on this thread please? And well done.

Oh! Sorry, everyone, but I hadn't noticed the replies. But if anyone would like to read the (very) short story, this link

www.paperweightpress.co.uk/Books/Standalone/LastMan.htm

will take you to a webpage showing the first few paragraphs and a further link to download the whole story as a pdf file. For free, obviously.
I'm hoping to make it available in other formats too but, despite a message to that effect in the file, haven't done so yet.

I'm very happy to receive comments.
