Two agents have asked to see the full MS of my new novel. One has had it a fortnight and asked for it within an hour of getting the first three chapters. I sent the other the first three chapters yesterday and today got a lovely email back asking to read the whole thing.

Wish me luck, please!

oh I'll send you some Irish luck ! :) congratulations ! That's already a great achievement. Really well done.

What type of novel is it?

YerTiz · 19/08/2015 18:54

How exciting! Good luck.

ImperialBlether · 19/08/2015 18:56

It's a psychological suspense. The agent who replied today said she found the first three chapters "hugely compelling." Grin

That's great - congratulations hope it goes well from here!

thehypocritesoaf · 20/08/2015 13:18

Very well done imperial.

(Jealous!)

3rdSymphony · 21/08/2015 21:48

Have NCd due to hack, but we've chatted before, Imperial. That's great! Have also been asked for a full MS but was midway through a rewrite so have asked agent to wait...

ImperialBlether · 22/08/2015 23:10

Oh that's interesting, 3rdSymphony! Can you please PM me your other name? I'd love to know which agent it was - I feel like I'm on first name terms with all of them now!

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 23/08/2015 16:46

Make that three now.... Had a very enthusiastic email today - Sunday - she's read the first 3 chapters on her holiday and wants to read the rest. Fingers crossed!

That's amazing Imperial. You've clearly got a really hot property. Congratulations.

I submitted 1st 3 chaps to 5 agents beginning/mid July. Only one has requested full... but she seemed very keen and is a vg agent. Mine's women's fiction.

ImperialBlether · 24/08/2015 09:34

That's fantastic, wordassociation. Will you PM me her name? It's stressful, isn't it?

So excited for you Imperial! Also excited by the prospect of another book by you though I guess even if you get signed up and the book gets acquired immediately we will still have a bit of a wait! Grin

BustyDeLaGhetto · 25/08/2015 14:07

Imperial this is fantastic. I'm hugely pleased and totally envious. I have received nothing but rejections since the beginning of the year Sad Sad Sad Sad

HIJACK KLAXON Any advice on sending to agents? Mine is a contemporary psychological thriller if genre matters. How do I find suitable agents?

WELL DONE OBVS

ImperialBlether · 25/08/2015 14:54

That's what mine is, Busty! What I've done is look specifically for agents who are interested in the same sort of books and preferably those who like to work with novice writers. Two of them were building up a list, so I think there's more chance with them.

You can read it now, Countess, but if anyone is interested I've no doubt it will have to be changed out of all recognition.

Oh and it's five now - I emailed two yesterday and told them three were interested - one read the chapters I'd already sent and asked for the rest and the other one just asked for it anyway (I think he just didn't like to feel left out!)

It's horrible waiting.

OP posts:
wordassociationfootball · 25/08/2015 15:55

That's such a lot of recognition, Imperial. Hugely validating.

(btw, sorry not to reply to the pm. Am having trouble with my MN messaging not recognising password)
