Has anyone started this course? I'm really enjoying it and really enjoying reading everyone else's work. My dcs are desperately trying to sabotage my attempts at getting much done though.

I'm doing it. Was great to do the first exercise (the fact/fiction one). I find the volume of work posted a bit overwhelming! Thousands of people... Have been plugging away on my book so it's refreshing to take time out from that and work on something completely different.

Nocturne123 · 29/04/2015 09:36

I'm a complete novice so I'm learning a lot. You're right about the volume of work, I didn't expect that at all. It's given me an excuse for some much needed alone time though.

I'm on it too and obviously hopelessly naive. Content/ delivery is nothing like I thought and yes there are masses of pieces to read through. I thought there would be not many people on the course and it would consist of cosy little tutorials. Naive, as I said... Enjoying it though.

OneFootIn1999 · 29/04/2015 22:15

That's what I expected too! I strongly suspect numbers will drop as the weeks go on.

FurFoxAke · 01/05/2015 09:26

Is this the one through OU? I'm on that one and it recommends reading each other's comments and do two paragraphs of something.
Last I looked there were over 3000 on that particular thread. Shock

Nocturne123 · 01/05/2015 09:30

Yep that's the one. I usually click on most liked to filter it a bit but there is just so much to read.

OP posts:
HoldenCaulfield80 · 01/05/2015 09:32

I'm doing this too! Sheer volume if comments has meant I've skimmed a lot of pieces and just read the ones that catch my eye which is a bit of a shame....

MsJupiter · 03/05/2015 16:51

I signed up too after someone mentioned it on MN. It feels nice to stretch my brain again even if it's only on a couple of paragraphs.

If anyone wants me to follow them drop me a PM as it would be nice to have a smaller group of people whose work I'm following.

Nocturne123 · 03/05/2015 19:42

I've pmd you Msjupiter. Same here,if anyone would like a follow please pm me

OldRoan · 04/05/2015 11:45

Yay, found a thread!

I was a bit overwhelmed at how enormous the level of response is. I'm finding it quite intimidating actually. Have sent a few PMs to people - happy to follow others.

tenderbuttons · 05/05/2015 14:22

I'm on there too, do PM to link up as it really helps me just to read the work of a set of people rather than the entire 40 million who seem to be taking part

FurFoxAke · 05/05/2015 20:38

Yes!
The problem with only reading the most liked is I think they tend to be the most read ones as well because they do them on time near the beginning IySWIM? Which seems unfair to me those who might have waited until Saturday or Sunday or Monday to post...
Are you all doing this using your real life names? I am only now I'm wondering if I should have made something up. Grin

OldRoan · 05/05/2015 20:44

I started using my real name, but switched early on (I think before posting anything). Mainly because I have a massive issue with people reading my work. Nobody irl even knows I'm doing it!

myneighbourtotoro2 · 05/05/2015 22:50

Im using my own name and it does feel a bit odd actually. I'm not sure I could be bothered changing it now though.

FurFoxAke · 06/05/2015 19:53

Also, what is the etiquette on following people back if they follow you? They don't seem to be following everyone so it's not that weird follow everyone so they look popular thing.
I changed my name although I just feel a bit daft anyway.
I know what you mean about posting, I'm definitely out of my comfort zone.

WitchUsername · 06/05/2015 20:13

I started today (bit late but better than never). I have 1 follower who liked something (silly) I wrote and I wonder if she's a mnetter! Grin Happy to follow anyone/ be followed if anyone wants to PM me too. I'm shocked at how many people seem to on the course!Shock

diamonddealer · 08/05/2015 15:54

I'm also doing this course, just finished week 2. I'm enjoying it but it is difficult to find time to do it!

StationsAndTrains · 20/05/2015 20:34

Oh wow, so glad I found this thread.
I started it, got off to a good start, but finding it hard to find time to do much observing, thinking or writing. Let alone keep up with the comments. I think I might print out the articles and keep them for future inspiration.
Happy to follow and be followed by Mnetters, so PM me. Will PM MrsJupiter, witch and Nocture.
I used my real name, It´s the advantage of having a common name - might or might not be me...

majormoo · 23/05/2015 08:52

I only just thought to look here. I am doing the course too but sinking a bit with the huge volume of people on it. I am a complete beginner so each week is definitely taking me more than 3 hours. Now I have the kids off for half term not sure how I am going to fit it in. Half way through week 4 so have the weekend to complete the rest of the week. I am enjoying the course though.

lostinabook · 09/09/2015 20:33

Just started a thread about this course starting in October!
