Hello

Is anyone doing NaNoWriMo this year?
I'm going to start it at least & hopefully finish it. I've got characters swirling around in my head at the moment & some glimpse of a possible plot...

Procrastinating already. Not the best start.

I've got DD to do it too - she will be more disciplined than me Grin.

I will do it. I will.

Okay, 2000 words done. Largely rubbish, and not sure where the heck I'm going, but it is done.

I might do some more later as I know once I'm back at work, time will be harder.

Is anyone on here a professional writer, or is everyone grabbing time around other work commitments/home life? Smile

Hello! May I join you? I'm Chadpie on the site.

This is the first year I've done it...am brewing up coffee as I speak! (Not procrastinating, no not me, no sirree.) DH is doing it too.

Well, 175 words so far...

2,000 words kinky? Well done!

Thanks for the tips grendelsmum

I haven't started yet but heading upstairs in a minute. Been at work all day, home at 6, dinner, shower, DS to bed. Finally time to get started...

I did a good spell of writing and thought I'd written loads, then saw it was only 1300 words so well below daily average! I am having trouble not making minor editorial changes as I go.

Have been using tracked change comments to text in areas where I know I'll need to go back to come December which hopefully will make the editing easier later assuming I actually get that far

Phew, done for the day-1754 words. First novel-related disaster: my favourite pen ran out.

Have added people from this thread-except Alameda because I can't find you...

I've just done 2763 words but I spent an hour early on doing some, a little around in the afternoon and then just hammered some out over the past 2 hours. So spent a lot more time on it than I thought I'd be able to. I'm trying to get a lot done now as will find it harder later in the month.
Well done to everyone who got started!

Antoinette I'm trying to add you but Nano site is being really slow for me and keeps going to an error page!

I'm doing it! THough sort-of-cheating in that I have a chapter-and-a-half already written, shitloads of notes and an actual sort of deadline so I'm doing it more to get myself focussed.

Only up to 904 but that's my first chapter done Grin

Thanks for the tips, GrendelsMum.

1625 today. I am being nice and starting my wordcount from where I left off on the stuff already done before today....

Don't think much of the actual website though; it crashes every time I try to get on it.

I'm madwomanintherockies... I have yet to write a word, and I have nay plan. Not a single letter.

From 0-50k in 30 days, indeed. Grin

I hit rock bottom this week, so I guess it's as good a place to start as any. I totally forgot about nano until I got my reminder email two days ago. I wasn't going to bother, but dd1 came home from school and said 'mummy, have you ever heard of national novel writing month?' And proceeded to tell me about the kids at school who are doing it. So I had to confess that erm, yeah, I had heard of it, but was trying to ignore it. Grin

Guess not!

I completely failed last year. Like, gave up after two days. Let's see what happens this year...

Ooh I have just googled nanowrimo as Engels mentioned it was to do with writing novels. My brother and I vowed last Christmas we would write novels in 2012 (a chapter per month)...I got as far as typing out a litre of my ideas, but never started! Really want to do this, although I will be a bit late starting... but never mind, ultimately it isn't a race and it's about kick starting your novel!
Will be back when I have signed up! Grin

Managed a whole 570 words yesterday... need to get myself into gear! The problem is I'm not very good at just hammering stuff out, I tend to overthink. Need to get over that and just accept that most of what I'm writing will be rubbish and just go for it!

KinkyDorito · 02/11/2012 07:21

So I was feeling good about my 2000 words until I told DD it was time for lights out. She started writing after 6pm, lights out at 10 and had written 6500.

Shock

Oh, to be 14 and not have to stop writing to do things like work and ironing. Grin

Managed 1673 in the evening after DS went to bed. Took me an hour and 45 mins. Itching to carry on but DS is running around demanding my attention ? guess I will have to wait until he?s ready for a nap. Have been brave and proclaiming word count on my facebook page. People who didn?t notice (or understand) when I posted the NaNo link are now Shock at realizing what I still have to do.

fancy seeing you here Smile

kinky that?s impressive!

Now trying to work out how much more I?ll have to write on my days ?off? to make up for busy working days when I have evening commitments as well, and when I?m going to get my marking for school done!

Guess I should do some housework while I wait for DS to tire himself out.

Is anyone getting anyone to read any of their writing, or waiting until the end? There are a couple of bits I'd like opinion on but not ready for DH to see!

Report
Alameda · 02/11/2012 16:48

Nobody is reading mine, whether I'm pleased with it or not. Except maybe one friend.

I missed the start, hope I can catch up from today!

Yeah, the site is crap. Too many forum topics, no-one replies soon enough anyway. MN is much better :)

There are parts of mine that are pseudo journalistic writing, and I've never done that before, so I'm not really sure if it sounds realistic enough.

AntoinetteCosway · 02/11/2012 18:43

LoopyLoops I'll happily give you my non-professional opinion if you want someone to cast an eye over it!
