Hi. Just wondering what other parents expect a 21 year old DD to do around the house. She works full time. Both parent work.
Posting here to get an Irish perspective.
Thanks.

I have young relatives around that age living at home with their Mam and Dad and, as adults, they're expected to take on their share of normal everyday tasks involved in keeping the house clean and tidy. There's no rota or anything, it's just a case of noticing what needs doing in the moment and doing it.

It's kind of like an upgrade from when they were kids and only had wee weekly jobs assigned to them. It's all good practice for when they (eventually) get their own home. Everyone mucks in together to keep on top of things.

My eldest is 20 and was working full time in the summer and living at home.We do a full house clean once a week and we would organise that between us if we are working equal amounts. She would do it all for me some weeks if I was working longer hours. She would pick up groceries if I asked. Hang out washing, fold washing. If she was home from work first she would just do a general tidy up. She would cook the odd time. TBH she is an adult so I wouldn’t be giving her a to do list, she just knows. She happily does it as she likes living in a clean tidy house, but she does say many of her friends have nothing to do at home at all, and are not even asked to do anything.

22 year old Ds working full-time here, and has long days with travelling, and both parents working, Dh full-time, me part-time, he helps in evening with tidy up etc, he'll do bins when asked and would do a good hoover at the weekend if I asked.
Note the "if I ask" 😅
