There's gaa clubs all over the world, it always surprises me to hear of how far flung they go. Just had a Google 50 countries and over 400 teams , mind blowing.

Yes. DD has moved from NI, but is still playing. She bought a London GAA shirt for "Counties day" which was much admired. After match it is chicken fillet rolls and "freedom Taytos". I asked what northern Taytos were called. Apparently "protestant Taytos." 🤔

I also came across someone wearing a Chicago GAA shirt on an English south coast beach.

We call them nordy taytos 😆, London and new york are in connacht I've had the pleasure of watching both play. Always a great day out

I went to the homecoming, amazing atmosphere even though the weather wasn't great , traffic was terrible had to abandon the car. Castlebar was hopping .

It was fantastic, on holiday in Spain watching the final, loving all the footage from Mayo my brother is married to a mayo woman and I've seen his in laws come up to Dublin for final after final going home heartbroken. Delighted for them don't think they can quite believe it.

We're a gaa family all my kids play and me and dh coach so I watch it a lot and that was one of the most enjoyable fulfilling matches I've ever seen.

@Member984815 homecoming looked immense not sure I would have coped in that crowd. It will be a year of celebrations as the Sam Maguire makes its way across the county to the schools and gaa clubs. Being a dub I've many pictures with it 😛

In light of the win I read up on Dr Michael Loftus, the last remaining member of the 1951 team who died in 2023.
What a life he had.
His mother died when he was only 9 🥲after childbirth and those twins died too in infancy. He was one of 6 children, the son of a Garda Sergeant who remarried and had 6 more children.
He became a medical doctor and worked tirelessly for his patients and for the GAA.
He was an outspoken critic of the influence of alcohol on lives
and the power of the alcohol industry in Ireland.
He was some man.
His grandnephew Conor Loftus played on the winning Mayo team on Sunday.

I think we are still in disbelief. It'll be a huge lift for the county
