Does anyone else think whats coming out of our politicians both ex and current is just mind boggling.

The last few weeks is more Waterford Whispers by the day.

Here's my top 2 in no particular order fromjust last few days.

A TD gave a good character reference for a predator who preyed on a 13 year old on Snapchat. Nope political parties won't investigate and name who it was and the judge won't name them either. (On an aside can guarantee if his local parish priest had given the reference wed know all about him by now!)

At the weekend Leo Varadkars beliefs were shared on a podcast re town vs country. So it seems our Leo believes the town folk are carrying the country folk in every way. Sounds like Leo has been spending too much time isolating in a D4 cave eating lab grown food.

There's lots more but every day we are getting further away from any sense of having politicians you could respect.

They don't respect us. The Irish political class and media class have lives that are very removed from those of everyday people. When they write, or speak, about us it's clear they very nearly view us an alien species to themselves.

The lack of respect for, or even the wish to continue, the everyday Irish way of life is very obvious in the policies that successive governments have enacted. They see us as something to be managed and as a vehicle for future career advancement internationally.

Politicians here benefit from the fact that Irish voting patterns largely solidified after the civil war and so people almost hereditarily vote for the same party through successive generations. We really need the populace to realise that voting the same way over and over again, for the same two parties, and hoping for radical and positive change is pointless.

@UtopiaPlanitia oh so well said thats exactly it. Tho I would say that the redrawing og constituencies and the movement of people across counties will move voting away from traditional allegiances but policies that favour sections of the population will then get them voted anyway.

Its sad really to see how decisions are made. But it's truly truly shocking that a TD would give a reference for a paedophile and its glossed over as "nothing to see here"

It's the secrecy and the automatic closing of the ranks to protect the Establishment that bothers me. What's happening here with the TD refusing to own up to providing the reference is the exact same thing as what's happening in the UK with Starmer refusing to own up to appointing Madelson in spite of his dodgy past - politicians and their handlers refuse to tell the truth, organising a cover up is their natural instinct.
