Thinking of going this year with the kids. Would love to hear others opinions. Dont know the city that well at all, I know it will be busy, but is it worth it and where should we aim to try watch it? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I went a few years ago, it's packed along the whole route as far as I could figure. People with children were at the front in some places, they must of got there early. I got split up from the people I was with, they got a reasonable view from somewhere nearer the end of the route. I was opposite temple bar which was as to be expected packed. You could walk along the route behind the crowds to get to other parts but it was difficult to get through in some parts. Good luck.

When we go in we go to the end, around Kevin's St. You need to be early but we always get a spot at the front for the kids and it's less busy than other areas. We bring snacks for the wait.

Thanks for the replies. Hoping for a dry day at least and hoping to get lucky with a spot

Where are you coming from that will determine where's best to go. We go every year, have it timed to perfection. Watch at Kevin st arrive just as it's starting never any issues
