Recycling coloured glass in Ireland

This is Craicnet so relates to recycling coloured glass in Ireland.
I have a large grey glass container that had held a 3 wick candle from Aldi.
I want to recycle it but I have no idea which bin to put it in at the glass recycling bins near me.
There’s one for clear glass, a separate brown glass bin and a separate green glass bin.
But mine is grey glass not clear, brown or green !!!
Sometimes I have blue glass container.
Where does that go ?
😱🙈
Anyone know ????

Depends on whether you’re colourblind or not 😂 I’d put them in any of them. It’ll get “sorted”!

But it breaks when it goes in so wouldn’t it get mixed up @JaneJeffer ?

Thank you @JaneJefferSo I’m to just stick it in any of the colour bins and stop worrying 💐

Have you ever watched the big claw thing on the truck that empties these glass recycling drums/containers? It picks one up , lifts it and then empties it into the back of the lorry. Each one is picked up in turn and emptied on to the previous one..they are all completely mixed up by doing this. I honestly don't understand why they have a separate coloured system for the glass when clearly it is all lumped in together on collection 🤔.

No I never saw it collected. Thank you @Penneyanna

On some glass recycling bins I've seen a notice that says if the bin is full you can put your glass items in any of the other ones. So I don't think it really matters. If it helps, when I've occasionally had a blue glass bottle I'd put it in with the green ones.

Thank you. That's cheering.

I haven’t seen it in action but they say that there’s separate sections inside the lorries to keep them apart.

I am very sceptical about the whole recycling industry in general.
