Hi all, need some advice. My daughter is ready for nursery and I am going to apply for schools in our area in the next few days for September 2026 intake. However we hope to move house around July/august time about 45 minutes from where we are now. What do I do about her application? Do I put school Down in this area Incase we don’t secure a house? But if we do how do we change nursery preferences as I think the outcome letters come out in May. Thanks x

Put her name down in both areas they can take her off the list once you know where you will be living, they will have no issue filling the place

Just say you are in the process of moving, also many people choose pre-schools near where they work or near grandparents rather than live. it is not like a school where catchment can come into it

You don't have to apply for nursery like you do school. You are literally just putting her name down for a place. There's nothing to stop you putting her name down for two. The nursery in the new place might get full with children who already live in the area and then you would have to see if they had spaces once you moved. If they didn't you could leave her name on the waiting list, find a different nursery or leave nursery and start again with school.
