Vodafone Ireland has launched a new emergency Real-Time Text (RTT) service allowing you to contact 112 using text, with your message appearing as you type. No delays, no waiting — a huge step forward for accessibility and safety. This technology was first developed at Gallaudet University eight years ago and was recently featured on RTÉ News with ISL. Watch our ISL video to learn what RTT is, how to turn it on for Android and iPhone, and where to find more information. How to turn on RTT:

  • Android – Settings → Accessibility → Hearing or RTT → Turn RTT ON
  • iPhone (iOS) – Settings → Accessibility → RTT/TTY → Turn RTT ON → Enter “112” for emergency call. Once enabled, RTT is usually found near your phone/call icon.
Share this with Deaf friends and family so they know about this life-saving option. More info: RTÉ News with ISL (start at 17 mins) | RTÉ News article |

Thanks for sharing, I have significant hearing loss and have hearing aids so this will probably be useful for me in the future.
