Hello

Can anyone tell me if Loretto accepts Christians who are not Catholic? There is a carefully worded clause in the admissions policy which could be interpreted multiple ways.

Do you mean in the first paragraph where it states parents must be in support of the aims and ethos of the college? @Greenelandahoy

Hi, Yes. From my stance, I could say we support Christian beliefs as we are Christian and dd attends church services however does this really mean ‘you must be catholic’?
I used to work in a catholic secondary and my nephew attended a catholic secondary but neither of us are catholic - but this is England !

Are you based in NI and have you been through the admissions processes recently? I have some big questions!

Yes sort of. Might be best to PM me @Greenelandahoy

I think they can only apply the criteria posted below that upper paragraph.

That wording is used in most Catholic schools in NI and ROI. It seems to mean we'll accept you but don't complain about religion. My local Loretto is the go to school for the local Muslims, so Christianity can't too much of an issue.

Is that Dublin 12 @turkeyboots?

turkeyboots · 19/06/2025 20:37

@deeahgwitch Balbriggan, Co Dublin just.

Ah 👍

As as a past pupil of Loreto College in Kilkenny, the incorrect spelling is driving me mad! And we would have had Protestant girls attending as well.
