2 day wedding - what to expect

Hi all,

been invited to family wedding in Ireland. I’m over several times a year but not been to a wedding there since I was a kid. What should we expect from a 2 day wedding? Invite is vague - like do I need to dress formally for day 2 as well? I did ask but was just told second day is more of a piss up - I’ll need a new liver after all this 😂😂😂

Day 2 is hangover day, often a BBQ or buffet of sorts. Bit of craic with the sore heads and then it takes off again once people get the levels of juice sorted again!

As for what to wear, well something nice and casual, maybe not jeans and a T shirt, but something passably ok. It's the day after, not the wedding itself.

So it's usually a three day event in the end. 1.Wedding, 2. Hangover day and night, 3. breakfast day 3 and leg it home. Some don't stay for day 2, or if they do they go home that day, some stay day 2 and continue the party, and stay the second night.

You need plenty of stamina for an Irish wedding, but if you haven't been to one before, you will have a blast!

@Anzenathanks so much. The last one I attended went well into 4am which I was thrilled at as I was 16!!!! Now….. I’m half frightened 😂😂😂. Nah it’ll be great though, been far too many funerals lately so nice to go over for a nice event.

we are staying both nice but fly home after that so will have to watch day 2 consumption 😂😂😂

Day two dress isn’t wedding attire but more dressy then jeans/top.

Earliest I have gone to bed at a wedding in Ireland is 4am so day two can feel like a struggle but you push through and once the first drink is in you will be grand.
